Summary
[edit]DescriptionSteenebrug 1.jpg |
English: Steenebrug/Steenenbrug stone bridge over the Plankenbrug River in Bosman's Crossing. Previously the gateway to Stellenbosch on the old wagon road from Cape Town in Lower Dorp Street, it has been replaced by the concrete Adam Tas Bridge built c1950s on Adam Tas Street which now bypasses Lower Dorp Street and carries traffic into Dorp Street at the western entrance to Stellenbosch. The Steenebrug bridge was completed by stonemasons Simon Janssens and Matthijs Diederick in 1691. |
