Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Steel House Gill Steel House Gill is one of the feeders for the River Burn. Although this is an area associated with old coal pits, it appears likely that the ruins to the right are associated with a scheme to extract lead ore [galena] which was found by colliers. The long history of coal mining in the area is one of disputes, failed schemes and money wasted on the extraction of poor quality coal.
