Summary
[edit]DescriptionSteam pumping engines, Cresswell Pumping Station - geograph.org.uk - 1050706.jpg |
English: Steam pumping engines, Cresswell Pumping Station A pair of Hathorn, Davey inverted vertical triple expansion rotative pumping engines. The three force pumps were below the engine cylinders and the concertina type well pumps were driven by a crankshaft extension (removed). Installed in 1932 they ran until 1976 and 1977. One was scrapped in 1985 and the other was removed for preservation but ultimately scrapped. As recently as October 2008 I was talking to the Severn Trent manager who had been responsible for the dismantling of this plant. |
