Les statues originales de Papin, Boileau, Lavoisier et Molière auraient servi de modèle à l’époque de la reconstruction de l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris, suite à l’incendie de 1870. Une thèse possible puisque Montrouge, ville des carriers, comptait à l’époque sur son territoire de nombreux tailleurs de pierre. Si ces statues ornementales en plâtre se trouvaient dans le hall de l’Hôtel de Ville de Montrouge, des copies ont été installées place Émile Cresp à Montrouge (cf. http://www.ville-montrouge.fr/639-statues-de-la-place-cresp.htm vu le 30/12/16)
