English: Head of a colossal statue of Amenemhat III found in Tell Basta (Bubastis) by Édouard Naville in 1887-1889. It is part of two seated colossi which were placed at the entrance of the Temple of Bubastis; due to their unusual facial traits, Naville hastly called these colossi "Hyksos statues". This statue was repeatedly usurped by later kings such as Osorkon II. Granite, from Bubastis, reign of Amenemhat III, 12th Dynasty, Middle Kingdom. Now in the British Museum, EA 1063. |
