Original caption: " Macedonia (ship); Built 1899, 4,357 Tons. In 1900 taken over from "de Freitas" by the Hamburg Amerikanische Paketfahrt Aktiengesellschaft Line (HAPAG). In 1915 seized by Great Britain and run by Shipping Controller as the 'Polgowan' in 1917 : "POLGOWAN (ex-MACEDONIA), fleet messenger, Y4.22. Built 1900, 4347grt. In service 6.15-2.17, flew red ensign; collier (Y3.1499) from 23.2.17." Sold to Greece as 'Meriopi', then 'Tiaina'. Broken up 1935. '(Description supplied with photograph)'. "English: The Macedonia was built in 1899 and taken over in 1900 from de Freitas by HAPAG. In 1915, seized by Great Britain and run by Shipping Controller as the 'Polgowan' in 1917. Sold to Greece as 'Meriopi', then 'Tiaina'. Broken up 1935.
