English: Demosthenes (ship)
Harland & Wolff built Demosthenes in Belfast in 1911. She was 11,223 gross register tons. Her maiden voyage, from London to Melbourne via the Cape of Good Hope, took 36 days. In World War One she was troop ship, 164 HMAT Demosthenes. She resumed her Australian service in 1920. In 1928 White Star Line managed her, still on the same route, including Brisbane. In 1929 Demosthenes sailed for Australia from Liverpool, instead of London. In 1931 she was scrapped at Jarrow. |
