Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt Peter's church - the chancel - geograph.org.uk - 1544139.jpg |
English: St Peter's church - the chancel. St Peter's church > 1544129 - 1544135 is located on an elevation beside the road, surrounded by fields. Declared redundant in 1969 and earmarked for demolition when parishioners in cooperation with the Norfolk Churches Trust saved the building which is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church houses several elaborate monuments, mainly to the Palgraves > 1544144 who were Lords of the Manor until the mid-18th century. A C14 double piscina > 1544159 can be seen in the chancel south wall and the original font > 1544177 is still in place at the west end. An ornate wheel design > 1544137 can be seen on the nave floor - its purpose is undetermined. |
