| Description |
English: St Mary's church, Monnington. The Wye Valley Walk passes through the churchyard. We started our walk here in the morning, and walked to Hereford. When we returned to collect our car, the narrow lane to Monnington was extremely busy: it turned out that there had just been a funeral in this church. There is no vehicular access to the church, and the coffin would have to be carried about 200 metres. I commented to the undertaker that this can't have been very popular with the bearers. 'Ah', he replied, 'when there are funerals here, relatives of the deceased have to act as bearers'. |
