| Description |
English: St Mary's Old Church Delightful village church built in 1563 by Sir William Patten, Lord of the Manor. It is the only church of the Elizabethan period left in London, and one of only a few Tudor churches in the entire country.
It suffered Victorian additions and severe wartime bomb damage. In 1868 a larger church, St Mary's New Church, was built over the road. Nevertheless the old church has remained in use for worship and as a early music venue. There are plans to turn it into a community arts facility. |
