| Description |
English: View north across Church Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex in 1979. On the right are the nave and west tower of St Mary the Virgin parish church. Centre left on the brow of the hill is St Michael and All Angels church. In the foreground behind a temporary fence is an archaeological excavation, where the Eastbourne Urban Medieval Excavation Project was investigating the site of Jesus House. The huts used by the archaeologists are to the left of the large spoil heap. The site is where St Mary's House Retirement Home now stands. |
