Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt Margaret's church - geograph.org.uk - 855777.jpg |
English: St Margaret's church The grid line separates the church from its churchyard: the view was taken from TG4413, the grid square adjoining in the south.
St Margaret's church > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855787 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855802 was extensively restored in 1876 by Diocecan architect Herbert J Green. The building material used was knapped flint. The roof is thatched (St Margaret's is one of only 53 completely thatched churches in Norfolk) and there is a dormer window (installed in 1908 to provide better lighting for the gallery) above the porch. Besides the C11 Norman south doorway > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/312307 and a C17 brass there are no older survivals. The font > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855807 dates from the 19th century; the east window > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855793 is modern (1960) and was installed in memory of Dr T E Royden, a churchwarden of many years. The Bishop, Rt Revd G C Fisher of Burgh Hall, gave the reredos of white marble and alabaster > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855795. The church is kept locked but a key is available.
