Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St John the Baptist's Church - Elizabethan tomb. St John the Baptist's church > 1356654 was built from flint with stone dressings, and its tower dates from Norman times. The chancel was restored by the Rev'd Woodhouse in 1840 and the whole church > 1356678 - 1356701 was restored in 1889 by Diocesan architect Herbert Green, whose wife glazed the east window in memory of her parents. The octagonal font > 1356706 dates from the 15th century and an Elizabethan table tomb is on the north wall. Remains of medieval stained glass are in the top lights of the windows in both north and south walls. This church is open every day as are all the churches in the care of the Hempnall Group.
