Description
English: St Gobban's Church, Portbraddan, County Antrim. [2] Plaque on the exterior wall of 819945. The latin roughly translates as "I only see the hours of the rising sun". The plaque relates to a sundial on the church - see 1265667. This would appear to work only during the morning hours of the day - this fits in well with the latin inscription and with its position on the east wall of the church. In this case the letters V A.M. presumably mark the position of the shadow at 5a.m. and the M in M. XII denotes Meridies (i.e. 12 noon). The 'A' motif relates to the owner of the church, Reverend John McConnell Auld (Con Auld).
