Description
English: Saint Ambrose of Milan in his study. Anonymous woodcut from a 1492 edition of his collected works (Ambrosii Opera, published by Johannes Amerbach, Basel 1492). The Latin text reads: "S[an]c[tu]s Ambrosius Mediolanen[sis] Ep[iscopu]s : ecclesie doctor celeberrim[us]" (Saint Ambrose, Bishop of Milan, most famous Doctor of the Church).
