Deutsch: Die Siedlung Cattenstedt befindet sich südöstlich von Blankenburg zwischen den nördlichen Ausläufern der Harzberge und der Teufelsmauer. Der Ort hat etwa 700 Einwohner und wird von der Bundesstraße 81 durchquert. Durch Cattenstedt fließt der Jordansbach, welcher nördlich von Weddersleben in die Bode mündet.
Seine erstmalige urkundliche Erwähnung fand Cattenstedt im Jahre 1199. Damals wurde ein Gutshof im Besitz der Adelsfamilie "von Cattenstedte" genannt. Der Ort ist aber mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit wesentlich älter. Vermutlich ging er aus einer zu Beginn unserer Zeitrechnung angelegten germanischen Siedlung hervor. Ein sehr markantes Bauwerk im Ort ist die St.-Martini-Kirche. Ihr Turm weist noch Anteile mittelalterlicher Bausubstanz aus dem frühen 13. Jahrhundert auf. Das Gotteshaus wurde im Jahre 2013 umfangreich saniert. Unweit der Kirche befindet sich der ortsbildprägende Gebäudekomplex des einstigen Rittergutes. Die geschichtlichen Entwicklungen von Ort und Gut Cattenstedt sind eng miteinander verbunden. Das zentrale Bauwerk des Rittergutes ist das im Jahre 1717 errichtete repräsentative Gutshaus im Stil des Barock. Zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten finden Sie in der näheren Umgebung von Cattenstedt. Das leicht hügelige und waldreiche Gelände ist außerdem ein abwechslungsreiches Wandergebiet. Dank seiner guten Straßenanbindung stellt Cattenstedt auch einen hervorragend geeigneten Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in den Harz sowie in das nördliche Harzvorland dar. |
