Description
English: A large constellation map and compass in the center of the west end of the main section of St. Albans Park, at Merrick Boulevard and Sayres Avenue in St. Albans, Queens. This is the most elaborate of the numerous constellation plaques and astronomy-themed artwork featured throughout the park. Unlike the one in the playing court section of the parks, it uses cardinal directions instead of Polaris (North Star) as points of reference. It also fits the Parks Department's reoccurring theme of integrating compasses into parks, and placing flagpoles at focal points..
