Description
English: A photograph of Southeast Asia taken from the International Space Station by NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick during Expedition 71. A high-altitude sprite was captured during the photograph which has a clear blue-red transition. Approximate altitude estimates provided by astronaut Dr. Donald Pettit place the sprite base between 5-8 km, blue-red transition at 20 km, and apex at 60 km. The photograph was taken on July 1st, 2024 while the spacecraft was above 6.2° N, 96.2° E.
