Description

The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spot-necked_Otter" rel="nofollow">Spot-necked otter</a>, Lutra maculicollis, lives in permanent freshwater lakes, rivers and swamps of sub-Saharan Africa. This type of otter is a river otter. River otters live both on land and in the water as opposed to sea otters that spend most of their life at sea.

Spot-necked otters in the wild eat fish, frogs and invertebrates. These otters have specialized bifocal vision that enables them to detect prey under water. Webbed paws make them excellent swimmers.
