[edit]DescriptionSpomenik Pobedniku na Kalemegdanu u Beogradu.jpg |
English: The Monument of the Victor (also known as Pobednik) is a prominent statue in Kalemegdan Park, Belgrade, Serbia. This iconic sculpture was erected in 1928 to commemorate Serbia's victory in World War I and to honour the soldiers who fought for the country's independence.
The statue depicts a male figure standing atop a pedestal with outstretched arms, holding a falcon in one hand and a sword in the other. The falcon symbolizes peace, while the sword represents bravery and the nation's defence. The Victor stands as a symbol of triumph, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the Serbian people. Perched on a high ridge overlooking the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, the Monument of the Victor has become a symbol of Belgrade and an iconic landmark in the city. It serves as a reminder of Serbia's history and the sacrifices made for its sovereignty.
