Deutsch: Nordostansicht der Müllverbrennungsanlage in der Spittelau, ein Ortsteil im 9. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Alsergrund und im Vordergrund die Hochtrasse (Viaduktbögen) der ehemaligen Eisenbahnstrecke "Verbindungsbogen" (Abzweigstelle Nußdorfer Straße – Friedensbrücke; 1991 stillgelegt). Die Verbrennungsanlage wurde von 1966/69 bis 1972 nach Plänen von Architekt Prof. Josef Becvar und dem Statiker Dr. techn. Adolf Lukele durch die Simmering-Graz-Pauker AG errichtet. Am 15. Mai 1987 brannte die Anlage ab. Im Zuge des Wiederaufbaues wurde der Künstler Friedensreich Hundertwasser um 88 Mio. Schilling beauftragt, die Fassade und den Schlot zu gestalten. Am 16. Juli 1991 wurde die 113 Tonnen schwere Stahlkugel auf den 126 m hohen Schlot aufgezogen. Von 2012 bis 2015 erfolgte eine Generalsanierung. Seitdem hat die Anlage folgende technische Daten: Pro Jahr werden rd. 250.000 Tonnen Müll verbrannt (~ 30 t/h), dabei entstehen 120.000 MWh Strom, 500.000 MWh Fernwärme, 6.000 t Eisenschrott sowie 60.000 t Schlacke, Asche und Filterkuchen. |
