Summary

[edit]
Description

Gabriel Angler (active in Munich around 1430-1445). Two tablets from the Tegernsee Tabula magna: the murder of Philip Arab and the resurrection of Christ, before 1445. Softwood. The paintings come from the right wing of an altarpiece for the abbey church of the Tegernsee monastery. On the outside was the assassination of Philip Arab. Father of St. Quirinus, to whom the church was consecrated. The resurrection could be seen inside - originally with pressed brocade in the background. The landscape is an ingredient of the 17th century. Angler is one of the first north Alpine painters who was demonstrably in Italy. He traveled to Venice in the early 1430s to purchase paint.

Deutsch: Gabriel Angler (tätig in München um 1430-1445). Zwei Tafeln der Tegernseer Tabula magna: die Ermordung des Philippus Arabs und die Auferstehung Christi, vor 1445. Nadelholz.
