Description

Peter Hemmel von Andlau (workshop) Round discs with scenes from the life of Jesus, around 1475-1480. The eight panes from the large council chamber of Ulm City Hall show the Annunciation to Mary, the birth of Christ, the encounter with the Canaanite woman, the healing of the dumb possessed, the feeding of the 5000, the attempted stoning of Christ, the entry into Jerusalem and the resurrection Christ. The cycle was probably created by Peter Hemmel, one of the most famous of those Strasbourg glass painters who had united in 1470 to form a cooperative, the "Community with Glaswerck".

Deutsch: Peter Hemmel von Andlau (Werkstatt) Rundscheiben mit Szenen aus dem Leben Jesu, um 1475-1480. Die acht Scheiben aus dem großen Ratssaal des Ulmer Rathauses zeigen die Verkündigung an Maria, die Geburt Christi, die Begegnung mit dem Kanaanitischen Weib, die Heilung des stummen Besessenen, die Speisung der 5000, die versuchte Steinigung Christi, den Einzug in Jerusalem und die auferstehung Christi.
