Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Albrecht Dürer (1471 Nuremberg-1528 ibid.) Apokalipsis cum figuris (the Apocalypse), 1498. Woodcut and type printing). Dürer's Apocalypse sets a brilliant milestone in the 40-year-old rapid development of the book woodcut in letterpress printing. On the basis of an established tradition of depicting the Apocalypse, Albrecht Dürer tightened and dramatized the descriptions of the events in direct address to the viewer. With his impressive images in black and white, he shaped the imagination and expectations of the "last things" over many generations until today.
