| Description |
English: Soutra Gorge. A fascinating gorge near the A68 at Soutra, but totally hidden from the road. The river is Linn Dean Water and this part is known as Kate's Cauldren.
The monks at Soutra Aisle, a renowned medieval hospital nearby, used to collect herbs here for their medicines. There are stories of the monks chasing away shepherds & sheep to safeguard the plants they used from being eaten. |
