| Description |
The southern edge of a dwarf galaxy known as Wolf-Lundmark-Melotte (WLM galaxy). The imaging is quite deep, featuring thirteen 2640 second exposures for the F814W channel, and twelve 2280 second exposures for the F475W channel, which were both put into median stacks to create an incredibly clean image, free of nearly all cosmetic defects with very little work required. There are not a whole lot of Hubble datasets like this for dwarf galaxies. I do wish it could have been a three color image. The made up green channel (50% red, 50% blue) results in a lot of orange background galaxies and orange and cyan foreground stars. This is less visually satisfying than a three color image, but is generally more useful for interpretation than a black and white image. Important note about the processing: The chip gap was filled with cloned data to reduce visual distraction.
