Southern Lebanon coastal plain

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A panoramic image of a strip of the Lebanese coastal plain, taken from the elevated Ras el-Bayyada headland.

This coastal strip is mostly used for agriculture purposes due to its optimal climate conditions.

The shoreline seen in the image is one of the few sandy beaches in Lebanon. It is also the last place in Lebanon where endangered turtles species lay their eggs. Recently, historical artifacts have been found on this shoreline which adds to its historical and heritage status.

On the distance, Tyre can be seen, stretching into the ocean.

The islet seen on the bottom left is locally called "The island" (Arabic: الجزيرة) and it is a common fishing spot.
