Summary

[edit]
Description

This is a very large ornately carved "Moktak (목탁)", a wooden percussion instrument similar to the Western wood block. Buddhist monks use a small, hand sized instrument like this in rituals.

Samgwangsa, meaning "Three rays of light from Buddha", was built in 1969 and expanded in 1982. The temple has the capacity to accommodate 10,000 worshipers at once.
