Info to the protest: Text from the event on facebook The 18th of August at 2 pm there will be a demonstration from Sankt Hans Torv to Queerlands in Warehouse 9. We are marching the same day as the Pride parade to show that our struggle is about liberation – not tolerance. You can expect queers, nice music and chants the entire way! - We strive to create a more political and revolutionary alternative to pride! Copenhagen Pride is the one LGBT+ event that is most broadly known among the public but it is also an event that rather than being a protest is a party with a culture of being entertainment for cishet people as well. In the Copenhagen Pride big corporations use the LGBT+ community and the pride flag to create profit for themselves without actually pushing for diversity. The pride also creates a space that is primarily targeted towards white, homosexual cis men while it excludes people who do not fit this ideal. Our goal is to take this day back to its political roots by creating an alternative to the pride parade. We want this day to be joyfull while still being revolutionary, political and inclusive of everyone who do not feel welcome at the pride parade. - We are queer! We fight against the ideals for gender and sexuality which thrive both in society as a whole and in the LGBT+ community. These norms for being thin, white, masculine and wearing the ”right” clothes still exists in our community and tend to exclude the people who do not fit into these norms. We want to create a space with room for exploring your own way of being queer. We view queerness as resistance, protest and rebellion against harmfull norms for gender and sexuality. - We are anticapitalists! Profit and huge corporations dominate the pride. Capitalism makes LGBT+ rights and our community into a product that big corporations can profit from without actually doing anything to improve the conditions of LGBT+ people in society as a whole or within their own company. We are anticapitalists which mean that we resist this connection of profit and rights for LGBT+ people. We view an anticapitalist standpoint as a crucial tool for liberation of all LGBT+ people. - We are antifascists! The Copenhagen Pride has a history of making a platform for people like Carl Christian Ebbesen and Jim Lyngvild who participate in maintaining fascist ideas. We refuse to make room for fascism in any of its forms. We fight against borders, police brutality and any other form of fascism which uphold oppressive structures. We want our solidarity to be international and disregard borders. We dream of a radical left and queer space that is free of norms of whiteness, racism and fascism. - We are feminists! The patriarchy is a structure that also affects the LGBT+ community. This can be seen in the form of feminity being disregarded and people who express themselves as and/ or are being seen as feminine are met with microaggressions and violence in the form of sexism and transmisogyny. We strive to resist patriarchy by making a space in which people are free to be feminine and where neither transphobia, transmisogyny or other forms of sexism is accepted. - We have no time for macho bullshit! We are tired of experiencing macho culture in both queer spaces and spaces of the radical left. People who act aggressively and take up way too much space in conversations, on the dancefloor and everywhere else. We view ”macho” as a broad concept which covers a culture where only the people who are the most pushy and loud gets their opinions taken seriously. It also covers a culture where there is no space to take your own or others’ feelings seriously. The macho culture shouldn’t exist anywhere and especially not in queer spaces. We wish to make room and take care of each other. - We make our own agenda! The organizing group for this event is queer seperatist which means that all of the organizers are selfidentified queers in a multitude of ways. This means that the agenda is made by queer people. The event itself is not seperatist for queer people as we want to create a space that is inclusive of those who are exploring a queer identity and those who might not yet feel fully comfortable identifying as queer. We also want to strengthen the overlap between the radical left and queer communities. You are very welcome whether you identify as queer or not. - We want to broaden the intersection between queer and radical left! One of the purposes of this demonstration is to make more room for the intersection between queer and radical left. Queer spaces are too often depoliticised which excludes a lot of people who are breaking the different harmfull norms which exist in every space that are not consciously fighting against them. At the same time, radical left spaces tend to be filled with macho bullshit which is just as excluding. We want to radicalise the queers and break down the macho culture in spaces that a radically left.
