Summary

[edit]
Description

Built in 1917, this triplane was displayed at the Imperial War Museum in London between 1920 and 1924. It was then stored in the basement, where it remained until moved to Cardington in 1932. Discovered on the dump there in 1936, it was then rebuilt to an airworthy condition. It flew in the 1936 & 1937 RAF Pagaents at Hendon, before going in to store again. Displayed statically at various events, including the Farnborough Airshow, throughout the 1950's, it was renovated by Hawker Siddeleys at Dunsfold in 1961. It was 'restored' again in the late 1960's, although with the intention to make it airworthy, it was decided to replace all of the original wood! Luckily, much of this original material remains in the RAF Museum store. The completed aeroplane moved to Hendon in 1971 and has been on display there ever since. She is now on display in Hangar 2 as part of the World War One in the Air exhibition. RAF Museum London. Hendon, Greater London, UK
