Description
Français : Le triage de Somain, Nord, situé 2 km à l'ouest de la gare de la ville sur la ligne Douai-Valenciennes, était l'un des plus importants de France jusqu'au début des années 2000, avec une activité de 1 300 wagons isolés par jour.

Creil et Tergnier étant d'autres grands pôles logistiques du nord du pays.

Les installations emploient encore 600 cheminots au début des années 2010.

Il est prévu de rapatrier les services offerts sur la base de Dunkerque-Grande Synthe à l'horizon 2020, dans le cadre de l'ambitieux projet de trains longs (1 500 m).
