English: Text on the table: On their life of suffering to the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen detainees escaped from the deportation trains on 11th April 1945. Tortured and almost famished they ran for shelter. Members of national socialist organisation, soldiers of the Wehrmacht and citizens of Soltau hunted them, murdered them and hastily buried them in this forest. With this memorial the city of Soltau reminds of the more than 90 dead persons and of all victims of the national socialist despotism. It was made of sample stelae of the Holocaust memorial in Berlin.
