Summary

[edit]
Description

Soldier beetle, a species of Chauliognathus (Cantharidae) on a rose bush. Tasmanian Arboretum, Eugenana Tasmania Australia, January 2012.

This Soldier Beetle has a resemblance to the Plague Soldier Beetle, Chauliognathus lugubris. This beetle however, has black spots on the side of his abdomen, and his elytra are black, not a deep olive green.
