English: TOMB OF ALA-UD-DIN AJMER ( SOLAH KHAMBHA )
This rectangular edifice of marble popularly known as " SOLAH KHAMBHA " (Sixteen pillars) was built by SHAIKH ALA-UD-DIN in A.H.1070 (A.D 1659) as per a Persian inscription affixed on the middle Arch of the Eastern side. It is open on three sides and have a mosque on western side containing three Mehrabs (the wall of a mosque towards which Muslims should face when praying). Inside it there are six Graves. Shaikh Ala-ud-din is said to be a descendant of khwaja Moin-ud-din chishti and a religious dignitary during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah-Jahan (A.D 1628-58).
