Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Snow barrier Like all Mounth roads, the A9 is vulnerable to blowing snow. The Gaick side of the road at the Drumochter pass has a huge gathering ground with a high plateau able to deliver lots of snow to the road at 450m above sea level. A barrier of trees has been planted, which should trap a lot of the windblown snow. The trees have grown very slowly at this altitude. Sgairneach Mhòr, one of the 5 main Druim Uachdair summits in the distance.
