日本語: ツボの中には手回しハンドルで巻き込んだ太い糸と色の付いた粉が入っている。糸を引き出す時に粉が付着する。糸を緊張させた状態で対象物に向けて弾くと白い粉が付着して直線を描くことができる。簡易な方法で長い直線を引くことのできる定規に相当する道具。木造建築の大工が用いる墨壺（すみつぼ）には液体の墨が入ってるが、その乾燥タイプに相当する。日本の日常生活では公道の横断歩道に白線引きするときに下書き線として用いることが多い。
