Furthermore,those species which bear names that have been transferred inAmerica to other species were briefly noticed and illustrated. Inthe present article are introduced a few of the innumerable hostoccurring in America and other countries, which are conspicuousfor various reasons. American Cyprinids In North America about 250 species of Cyprinids occur and almostall belong to genera or at least sub-genera unknown to Europe orAsia. The genus Barhns, so numerously represented in the oldworld, has not a single representative in the new, nor are any of therelated ones represented.
