Description

Italian architecture is everywhere in the Istria region. The town of Piran is on the Adriatic Sea, it is one of the three major towns in Slovenian Istria.

Until the mid-twentieth-century Italian was the dominant language here. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Piran was an Austro-Hungarian city with over 12,000 Italian speaking inhabitants.
