[edit]DescriptionSloop Gloriana-4.jpg |
English: Edwin Dennison Morgan's sloop Gloriana (designed by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff, 1891) won the first six races in the first season of the all new 46-footer class before she was removed from racing. She announced Herreshoff's return to sailboat racing after the loss of his steam license in 1888 and the death of his friend Edward Burgess in 1891. She is pictured here on June 23rd, 1891 in the Atlantic Yacht Club's four-hundred-dollar-cup race, which she won.
