Description
English: Embroidered silk skirt, 4 panels in themselves comprising a number of applied tapes and panels, cream jaquard silk ground with depictions of cranes and clouds.Rectangular centre front and back panels bordered in blue silk ground with embroidery depicting a landscape with trees, islands, fences, water and bridge, female figures in garden of peonies and roses, fruit blossoms, bamboo, bats and butterflies. Blue border has cream, woven, picot edged tape with black and red central motif. Blue border surrounds 2 parallel borders of woven, 1 cream and 1 mauve, tape depicting various flora and faune. These tapes enclose yet another panel on cream ground with hand embroideries in couched gold thread, floral motifs mainly in blue and black and central medallion depicting person walking along road carrying bundle. 2 panels tapered to waist with 10 applied ribbonlike details comprising 10 separate elements of tape including some woven bibbon and some hand embroidered. Hand assembled. Black tape border finishing all but 2 edges. Waist band of salmon coloured soft cotton with fastening loop at each end of self fabric. Lining of bright pink silk.
