English: A maximum minimum thermometer, also known as Six’s thermometer after its inventor. The scales are in centigrade. The current temperature is 19 Centigrade, the maximum recorded is 29, and the minimum is 6, both read from the base of the small markers in each arm of the U tube. The bulbs are shown, plastic housing is dissassembled. Bulb A holds air, Bulb B holds the expandable liquid. M indicates position of those dark magnetic strips fixing the small markers when mounted in place. There is a paper clip adherant at the dark strip to show it is magnetic. |
