Summary
[edit]DescriptionSilver splash near Silverdale 197068.jpg |
English: A view from the jetty at Arnside, Cumbria, England on the estuary of the River Kent. This image was taken with the camera on its normal colour setting but I am amazed at how close it is to monochrome. I could not have achieved that effect if I had tried! I converted it to black and white - see below. It is hard to tell the difference. It reminds me of this well known painting from ~1588, no longer ascribed to Pieter Bruegel the Elder: Landscape with the Fall of Icarus. In both that and my picture you miss at first sight the legs poking out of the water. But of course with my picture the owner of the legs surfaced safely a moment later. |
