Description
English: 'C' Company, 10 Battalion, Australian Imperial Force

Signaller Thorn was a teacher in Broken Hill, New South Wales before enlisting on 31 August 1915.

He was became a corporal in the 27th Battalion in January 1916. He joined the 10th Battalion upon reaching Egypt.

He arrived in France in April 1916. Together with his brother Private Arthur Thorn, he became a signaller because of a "deep repugnance to even the thought of taking a life".

He was killed in action on 24 July 1916 during the First Battle of Pozieres, aged 27. He is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
