Sierra Ladrones Formation in the Socorro area

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This image shows the Sierra Ladrones Formation northeast of Socorro, New Mexico. This is the transitional axial-piedmont facies, showing intertonguing river channel beds and alluvial fans. The Sierra Ladrones Formation is the youngest Santa Fe Group formation in much of the Albuquerque Basin, representing the through integration of the Rio Grande River in what had previously been a closed basin.
