Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Siegenite, Dolomite
Locality: Sweetwater Mine (Milliken Mine; Frank R. Milliken; Blair Creek; Ozark Lead Company Mine; Adair Creek; Logan Creek), Ellington, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds County, Missouri, USA (Locality at mindat.org)
Size: 6.5 x 3.5 x 3.3 cm.
Silvery and bright siegenite crystals richly cover sulfide matrix on this very fine combination specimen along with off-white dolomite rhombs from the famous Sweetwater Mine of Missouri’s Viburnum Trend. Scattered, golden chalcopyrite adds color. The siegenite "ball" perched atop siegenite and dolomite is very attractive. This is older material and is seldom available in this quality. Siegenite is an extremely rare mineral from these mines and is found at its most significant here. Rather, it was. No finds I am aware of came out since the 1980s. This is a superb example from the Gary Hansen dealer stock.
