Summary

[edit]
Description
English: There is a gate near the theatre, to the north of the commercial agora and just past the museum. The Vespasian Arch was built in I century A.D. in honour of the arrival in the city of the Roman emperor Vespasian. It originally was higher, with probably a quadriga on top. To the left of the road, before entering the inner town, there is a monument for the emperor, it has been moved to this location and had been turned into a fountain. In the fourth century the arch was made part of new defensive structures.
