The traditional Moorish ceramic heads can be found all over Sicily. They represent a mix of Sicilian mythology and history.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The story behind these ceramics starts with a Moorish merchant visiting Palermo. He fell in love with a local girl. When the gild found out he had a wife and child at home, she flew into a rage and killed him. She then used his head as a pot plant, which is why you will often see the Moorish Heads as plants on balconies throughout Sicily.
