Summary
[edit]DescriptionShiva and Vishnu temple ruins, Pujeripali Maharajpur Chhattisgarh 065.jpg |
English: Pujeripali is a village about 2 miles south of the Mahanadi river near Maharajpur–Sariya in Raigarh district of eastern Chhattisgarh. The village has several historic brick temple ruins from Shiva, Vishnu and Devi traditions. Of these, the best surviving and an active deul temple is the Shiva temple with a few smaller shrines. The Shiva temple shows a fusion of Kosala and Odiya styles. The original temple had a mandapa as well as a complete shikhara. Both have been lost to history. A renovated rebuilt mandapa now stands in front, while many recovered panels of historic Hindu artwork are stored inside the temple premises. These are from ruins discovered near the village and structures near the Mahanadi river nearby. |
