Description |
English: White clay body, thrown. Pointed-ovoid body with tapering neck, flaring tricornered lip; circular foot. Curved handle attached to body and top of neck. Body decorated on front and back with large yellow and orange roses in various stages of bloom and green leaves. Against a subtly shaded background of gold, green and brown. Allover yellow glaze with fine cracklature. Bottom not glazed. Overlaying the piece is silver open work which is engraved with various flowers, leaves, arabesques and volutes. Covering the base and foot, the overlay extends upward and becomes a large openwork pattern in the area beneath the handle. It continues around the front of the body and becomes a band of openwork that extends diagonally upward to the lip. |
