Matthew 5:13-16 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. My Summer 2009 project to design and create a real lighthouse out of cement and stone from Lake Superior. I also made fossils and sand cast shells. I dyed some and painted some. I used red onyx on the balcony and door. Royal blue round porcelain tiles are the portholes. These are outlined in natural limestone from Israel. This is now grouted but the light is not added yet. I will keep adding pix as I get more work done. This is about 8 feet tall and is the biggest art project I have ever done. I had help from Sam [handyman] in making the pedestal base and connecting the pieces that I cast in cement with mesh and wire. So this is reinforced well and is hollow. My two sisters helped me to begin putting on the stone and objects but they could not stay long enough to complete this. This took more time than I could have ever imagined! Ten lbs of grout and many hours later over the span of a week, it is finished for the winter! In the Spring, I'll work on the pedestal base, flower garden around it, ledgestone patio floor. |
